A look at diurnal.in

Diurnal is a native macOS notepad that combines the freedom of writing with task management structure. Everything you write automatically becomes a task, and nothing requires a date. The app's core feature is automatic tidying: tasks you haven't touched for a day are asked if you're still working on them, and unanswered tasks move to next week automatically. It includes calendar integration with Google Calendar, voice capture, project management, focus modes with pomodoro timers, and offline support across all your Macs. The app requires an account via Google or email and does not turn incomplete tasks red or create overdue piles.

FAQ

Is this just another to-do app?
No. Diurnal is a notepad where everything you write becomes a task, nothing needs a date, and tasks you stop touching are tidied away automatically. It combines the freedom of a blank page with the structure of a to-do app, without requiring maintenance.
What happens to tasks I don't finish?
Nothing turns red. After you haven't touched a task for a day, it asks if you're still working on it. If you don't answer within two more days, it automatically moves to next week and comes back when that week starts. You can change these numbers or turn off auto-clean in Settings.
Is it available on Windows?
No. Diurnal is a native Mac app built for one platform so it can be fast and feel like it belongs there. There is no Windows or web version planned.
Do I need an account?
Yes. You can sign in with Google or email, and your tasks exist on every Mac you use and keep working offline. Signing in gives Diurnal no access to your calendar.
Where does my voice go?
Voice input goes to Apple's speech engine, the same one behind dictation, and never to Diurnal's servers. Nothing you say is filed as a task until you have reviewed the list and pressed Return.
