Overview

A look at idempotency-harness-checker.theartofservice.com
Idempotency Harness Checker helps developers test payment and record APIs for idempotency failures. It reads an OpenAPI specification or endpoint list, identifies money-moving operations that lack proper idempotency key handling, and generates deterministic test cases that verify replay safety.
The tool runs entirely in your browser with no uploads or sign-in required. It performs three passes: finding business operations and their effects, reading the replay contract (whether keys are declared and results documented), and emitting test suites in your chosen stack.
Generated suites cover replay, timeout-retry, 5xx-retry, concurrent requests, changed payloads, missing keys and downstream counts. Tests run against a provided mock that includes a deliberately broken version to prove assertions are real. The free version covers three highest-risk operations; paid audits examine the entire API and include CI integration with drift detection.

FAQ
- Does my spec leave my browser?
- No. Parsing, findings and test generation run in the browser. The only request to this site is the Stripe session check on the paid return page.
- What if the API has no OpenAPI file?
- Use the endpoint list: one method and path per line, with the key appended after a pipe. You get the same replay, conflict, missing-key, concurrency and timeout cases; the request bodies are generic and need a sandbox example.
- Is a passing suite proof that the API is idempotent?
- No. It is evidence for the operations it covers, against the target it ran against, on that day. It does not inspect the server code, the database or production traffic.
- Why does the free view stop at three operations?
- Three is enough to judge the reading and run a starter suite. The paid audit is for the whole API and the change evidence. A tool that hides the output until after payment cannot be judged, and one that gives everything away has no product.
- What does the tool do?
- It reads an OpenAPI spec or endpoint list, flags every money-moving operation whose replay contract is incomplete, and generates a runnable test suite that replays each operation with the same idempotency key.
