- What formats are available for the data?
- Paid plans can download calendars as CSV from the Dashboard to open in Excel or Google Sheets. Developers can also request JSON or CSV from the REST API. Custom formats like Excel workbooks or XML are available by contacting the company.
- How often is the holiday data updated?
- Data is updated daily and sometimes multiple times per day with automated change detection. Once approved, updates are immediately available to clients via API.
- Does the API include both historical and future holidays?
- Yes. You can set start and end dates on any calendar endpoint for any date range, include historical rows by setting start before today, and omit end to get all published forward dates.
- Can I check if a market is open right now?
- Yes. The GET /v1/market-status endpoint returns whether each exchange is open, on a half-day, or closed, along with today's session hours and the next open and close times. This is included on Free, Exchange Trading & Settlement, and All-in-one plans.
- Can AI assistants use the API?
- Yes. An MCP server is hosted at https://api.tradingcalendars.com/mcp so Cursor, Claude, and other MCP clients can query the calendars and live market status using an existing API key, with the same plan entitlements and daily quotas.
