A look at kuuhaku.dev

Kuuhaku automatically generates living architecture documentation by scanning your code repositories and mapping every service-to-service connection. It tracks HTTP routes, gRPC calls, message queues, WebSockets, and shared databases, showing the exact file and line where each connection originates and terminates.

The platform maintains an always-current service map as a website with dedicated pages per repository, import history, and a review inbox for unresolved connections. It integrates with pull requests to check what calls will break before code merges, supporting Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot through an MCP server.

Kuuhaku runs via CLI on your own machines or CI infrastructure, uploading only the connection graph rather than source code. It identifies personal data in routes and models for GDPR and LGPD compliance, sends Slack or Teams alerts about architecture changes, and exports maps to Mermaid, C4, Backstage, or PDF formats.

FAQ

What counts as a repository?
Each entry in the architecture.yaml file counts as a repository. Monorepos count as one repository.
Does the source code leave our machines?
No. When using the CLI, only the graph (names, paths and line numbers) is uploaded, along with three lines of context around each item. The hosted runner clones with a read-only key into a temporary folder, scans, keeps the graph and deletes the checkout.
Who can read the site?
Anyone you invite can read the site on every plan. Seats are never billed, so you can invite your entire company.
How does the trial work?
Pick a plan and sign up with no credit card required. Use everything in that plan for 14 days. You can switch plans during the trial. To keep scanning, add a card. If you don't, the workspace stays readable for 30 days.
What happens if we outgrow our plan?
You can move up to a higher plan from Settings and Billing at any time, and the new limits apply immediately.
