graftfork
Keep your changes on every upstream release
Overview

A look at graftfork.com
graftfork (Graft) keeps your modified copy of an open-source project synchronized with upstream releases. When a new release ships, Graft moves your changes onto it in a sandbox, runs your tests, and delivers the updated branch only if all tests pass.
It handles three types of changes automatically: those that still apply cleanly are kept as-is, those already included in the upstream release are dropped, and those that conflict are rewritten by an AI agent if you choose. The service never pushes to your repository unless you take the move; your branch remains untouched.
Graft can also rebuild a program from its specification document, regenerating code to match requirements without using the original repository. Every sync creates a signed record of what changed and why, which you can verify.

FAQ
- What happens if my tests fail?
- If a test fails because of the carry, your copy stays where it was. Nothing is pushed to your branch, and the dashboard names the failing test so you can look. Tests that already fail on upstream's new release don't count against the carry, and neither do failures your copy already had before the move.
- What happens when a change conflicts?
- On the free plan, your copy moves automatically whenever nothing conflicts. When a change conflicts, the copy stays and the dashboard says which file. Your first conflict is resolved free using Graft's agent. After that, Premium resolves conflicts automatically, or you can use your own Anthropic API key.
- What if my project has no tests?
- Then your copy moves only when every change applies as it is, or upstream already has it. Rewrites need tests to check them, so a release with a conflict stays. Python and Node tests are found automatically; for anything else, add a .graft.yml with a test: command.
- Do I need GitHub?
- No. On GitHub, Graft's app is the easy way in. On any other host like GitLab, Codeberg, or your own server, connect a copy by its git address: its https address and branch, upstream's address and the release it sits on.
- What does it cost?
- The free plan costs nothing with up to 10 syncs a month and your first conflict resolved free. Premium is $12 a month with $6 of agent work included. For teams, Team is $15 per fork per month, and Enterprise is by contract.
