A look at jpthecat.com

JP the Cat is a native Swift application for macOS that monitors AI coding agent usage and costs in real time. It tracks spending for Claude Code, Codex, Grok, Muse Spark, Cursor, and OpenCode Go by reading usage logs locally on your Mac—no account or API key required. The app displays real dollar costs for Claude and official notional list prices for other providers, along with official usage limits and rate-limit windows. It offers a menu-bar display showing daily spending totals, a configurable macOS widget in small, medium, or large sizes, 24 themes including light and dark modes, detailed analytics with per-provider and per-model breakdowns, and 80% usage alerts. All data stays on your Mac; the app is notarized by Apple and requires no Full Disk Access.

FAQ

How is this different from the free usage tools?
Free tools mostly show token counts and rough percentages and several misprice cache tokens. JP starts with accurate Claude Code dollars, Codex's official limits, and honest notional Grok list-price cost, then adds a macOS widget, light and dark themes, and an 80% meow alert. Cursor stays estimate-only and is never included in the headline total.
What do I need to run it?
JP the Cat requires macOS 14 (Sonoma) or newer on an Apple Silicon Mac. You'll want Claude Code, Codex, and/or Grok Build installed. Cursor CLI is optional; enable capture from Settings when you want that row. There's no account to create and Claude Code/Codex/Grok need nothing extra to start counting.
Is my data private?
Yes, completely. JP reads the local session logs your tools already write and never uploads prompts, code, transcripts, or token history. The Mac app's network calls are limited to server-anchored trial and license checks; optional Cursor and Grok toggles talk only to existing app sign-ins.
Can I move my license to a new Mac?
Yes. Open Settings in JP, choose Deactivate this Mac, then unlock JP on your new Mac with the same license key. You may move a license to a new Mac by deactivating the old one in Settings, then activating the new Mac with the same key.
