Overview

A look at azimutt.app
Azimutt is a next-generation entity-relationship diagram tool designed for teams working with large and complex databases. It provides seamless exploration for understanding database schemas, allows users to design databases using a minimal DSL called AML at typing speed, and enables collaborative documentation with table and column notes.
The platform includes database analysis capabilities to identify design inconsistencies and improvements, supports both relational and document databases natively, and offers features like path-finding between tables, data exploration, and schema export. Users can explore databases without signup using command-line tools or share diagrams through embedded links. The tool is built for developers, architects, DBAs, data analysts and product managers who need to visualize and understand their database structure.

FAQ
- Which databases are supported?
- Azimutt supports most common databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB, Couchbase, Snowflake, and BigQuery through database connections. Any SQL schema is also supported, and other databases can be integrated by extracting their schema and formatting it as JSON. The CLI includes a JSON schema inference tool to help with integration.
- What about data privacy?
- Azimutt takes data privacy seriously with several options: the code is open source for auditing, users can import only the schema they need rather than sharing connection details, schema parsing happens in the browser so servers never see the data, and users can self-host their own Azimutt instance.
