A look at citysignalsdata.com

City Signals Data delivers weekly building permit data for five US metros: Austin, Chicago, Cincinnati, New Orleans and Mesa. Each Monday, subscribers receive a CSV and Excel file containing every building, electrical, plumbing and HVAC permit issued the prior week, with contractor business names, new and busy contractor flags, expiring or expired home permits, and property facts including year built, assessed value, code cases, flood zone and neighborhood income.

The data comes from official public records: city permit open-data portals, county appraisal and assessor rolls, the US Census and FEMA flood maps. Each row links to its government source. The file includes no homeowner names, phone numbers or emails—only business and property data.

City Signals Data also offers pay-per-row tools on Apify for trade show exhibitors, mechanics liens, contractor licenses, SEC Form D raisers and other public records, plus one-time reports on restaurant changes, solar and roofing installers, and year-one businesses.

FAQ

What is in the weekly file?
For your metro: every building, electrical, plumbing and HVAC permit issued that week, with job address, permit number, type, description, stated job value, dates and the contractor business; flags for new and busy contractors; a list of home permits that expired or expire in the next 30 days; and property facts on each row (year built, assessed value, code cases, flood zone, neighborhood income). CSV and Excel, with the government source link on every row.
Which metros are covered?
Permits and contractor flags: Austin TX, Chicago IL, Cincinnati OH, New Orleans LA and Mesa AZ. Property facts: Austin, Chicago and Cincinnati. Expiring and expired home permits: Austin, Cincinnati, New Orleans and Mesa, where the city publishes permit status. Other US areas that publish permits online can be added on request, but only after we confirm the data exists.
Does it include homeowner names, phone numbers or emails?
No. The file holds business and property data only: the job, the permit, the property facts and the contractor business. No owner names, no phones, no emails and no skip tracing.
Where does the data come from?
Official public records: city permit open-data portals, county appraisal and assessor rolls (for property facts only), the US Census and FEMA flood maps. Each row links to its source.
How fresh is the data?
Data is pulled the weekend before delivery, straight from the city's own feed. Some cities post with a delay of a few days; the file shows the pull date.
