A look at certavert.com

CertAvert is an SSL/TLS certificate monitoring service that checks your certificates from the public internet twice a day and emails you before they expire. The service requires nothing to install on your servers and connects like any visitor to read the public certificate your server shows. It monitors certificate expiry, trust status, intermediate certificates, domain names, TLS versions, DNS records, and certificate changes. Free plans monitor up to 3 domains with 30-day and expiry alerts, while paid plans add 14-day and 7-day alerts, multiple email addresses, Slack and Discord integration, domain renewal reminders, certificate problem alerts, and audit reports.

Feature notes

  • Certificate expiry notifications at 30 days, 14 days, 7 days, and on expiry
  • Broken chain detection with fix guidance
  • TLS version and cipher checking
  • Domain DNS and registration monitoring
  • Certificate change history and alerts
  • Certificate report for audits
  • Certificate transparency log monitoring
  • No server access or installation required

FAQ

Do I need to install anything or give you access to my server?
No. CertAvert connects to your domain like any visitor on port 443 or another port you choose and reads the public certificate your server shows everyone. There are no agents to install, no passwords or API keys to share, and no DNS or code changes required.
Do I still need monitoring if I use auto-renewal?
Yes. Auto-renewal can fail quietly after DNS changes, server moves or config updates. CertAvert checks the certificate your server is actually serving, so you find out before your visitors do.
Is CertAvert really free?
Yes. The Free plan monitors up to 3 domains with no time limit and no card needed. Paid plans are Starter ($50/year for 10 domains), Plus ($100/year for 20 domains) and Pro ($150/year for 50 domains), all yearly subscriptions you can cancel anytime.

How does billing work for paid plans?
Paid plans are billed once a year through Paddle, our reseller, and renew automatically until you cancel. You can upgrade anytime and pay only the difference for the rest of your year. Downgrades and cancellations take effect at your renewal date, so you keep what you paid for. Every payment comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee. If a plan ends, domains above the new limit are paused, never deleted.
