Tranzly vs WPML

WPML logo

Tranzly's main competitor is WPML. This is how Tranzly compares the two.

In Tranzly's own words.

WPML has been around for a long time and is a paid WordPress translation plugin, with yearly plans that bundle a fixed amount of AI-translated words. Tranzly costs nothing to install from WordPress.org, supports any number of languages and does no word counting at all, because the translating is done through your own DeepL or AI account.

Where Tranzly stands out

  • The free edition covers unlimited languages, translated addresses, hreflang and sitemaps.
  • Since there are no word limits, you pay your chosen translation service directly rather than purchasing word allowances.
  • Each translated page adds two database queries at most, and no cookie is set, so caching carries on working.
  • Tranzly Pro can bring in WPML's languages, translations and translated texts, and the import can be reversed.

Where WPML is strong

  • Each paid plan comes with a yearly quota of AI-translated words, which means no separate translation account is required.
  • Its own translation engine is available, next to DeepL, Google Translate and Microsoft Translator.

In common

  • Every translation is kept by both as genuine WordPress content that has an address of its own.
  • Both can plug into machine translation from DeepL, Google and Microsoft.

Differences

  • No free version of WPML exists, whereas Tranzly offers a free edition on WordPress.org.
  • The paid WPML plans come with either 22,500 or 45,000 AI-translated words, and the Blog plan has none; Tranzly sets no word limit.
  • With 73 tools, Tranzly allows AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT to translate a whole site.
